Beautiful machine, congratulations! I'd certainly kick a few of mine out to make room for something like this.

Larry, I apologize for pestering you so much but, does this exhibit an "Official Laboratory Model" medallion of some type anywhere in the turntable compartment?

Also, if you'd be willing, could you furnish me with some information for my C250/C19 database project?

The link to it is here: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... 19#p127119

Best,
Fran

It doesn't have a medallion. The only thing on the machine that says Edison is the data plate. Fran I will be reading your article.

Larry,

I just can't stop wondering if this was the same machine that was offered to me 10 years ago, and if it is the same example that is pictured in George Frow's book. It's amazing what comes around. If I may ask; did you purchase this machine from a collector?

Are there any other markings on the cabinet? Are the dark applique elements painted or wood stained dark, or do they actually look to be ebony or something similar? Are there any interesting markings on the inside of the "Edison Records" binders? Just curious, as I found the machine fascinating so long ago, and still do!

Best,

Garret

Garret,

No special markings on the Edison Recreation Albums.

I think they are paint and I didn't buy it from a collector.

An Absolutely Amazing phonograph. The best $300 ever spent... What a find! I would think that you can add an extra "0" zero to the end of your $300.00 find to make it $3000.00...and I am not exaggerating.. You have a very RARE Edison DD Phonograph. I would definately say that it was a "Special" order machine for a VERY expensive customer. Take off the front grill and get us some pics of the rear. This phonograph should DEFINITELY go into the TMF website's "Featured Photograph" collection of Special Phonographs. Who at TMF can get it in there?

That REAL Walnut is truly amazing...

However, I do not think that the period C250 Dataplate is original. If so, It would be truly bizarre..especially for the serial number that it refers to. It's also possible that a previous collector may have put it there because the original dataplate may have been missing or lost. One can only wonder. Everything else looks absolutely original though. Congrats!
