Thanks for the information about the sapphire tip needles. It makes sense now that the tip is probably chipped and is causing the tracking problem and circular marks on the record. Do you know of a reputable vendor that sells sapphire tip needles?

Try soundgen in England, he is a member of this board and uses the same nickname in the UK Ebay. I bought a legitimate sapphire from him some years ago, and it is still working fine with no issues.
