Thanks, George for the clarification. I knew I saw this machine at Dave's in April '99. He kept it in his living room where his favorite phonographs were.

Those are some wonderful photos, thanks so much for sharing them with us. After a few years of the photos on the various message boards, I feel (almost) like I've been there. So far I have never attended any of the various phono shows (outside obligations, ya know: work, family, etc etc). Just a couple of questions come to mind:

Sharon----in the photo after the lovely tin-foil phono, there is a gizmo that's mounted on a wooden board. Please forgive my ignorance, but what are we looking at there? I was very intrigued by it, but can't quite figure it out.

For those of you that were there---any word on how the sales were? I see lots of wonderful stuff, but no "sold" tags fluttering in the breeze. Prices sound like they are still fairly strong on the really rare stuff, but were the sellers selling? With the economy in the doldrums, I'm curious how--or if---it has affected the collecting scene at Union.

By the way, for those of you that post all of these great photos on here, from somebody like me that stays in the background (usually), I say a great, big THANK YOU. It takes a bit of time and trouble for you to do it, but your efforts are sincerely appreciated.

Yes thats it Bill Landon, he sold me my GEM. And i also thought the triumph was from the Heitz collection until i look at the tribute page to Dave made by Rene and he stated is was a HOME not a TRIUMPH. and now looking at it it looks to me like a HOME and NOT a TRIUMPH??? Also the inlaid DD looks like it was from the Heitz collection too?

Kirkwook, that gizmo on the wooden board is a hand crank electric motor. My husband Ken made something similar to it when he was in jr. high school. Sometimes for fun he would use it to run his Lionel train set.

I did see a number of things sell but I don't know how well this year did compared to last years sales. I also noted that attendance did seem to be down a little (fewer cars in the parking lot) despite the fact that gasoline prices are better than last year. BTW, you are right concerning prices on the high end stuff. To me, prices seemed pretty much like last year.

Look again, Aaron . . . that is definitely a Triumph. The split half-nut bar and Triumph-style off/on switch is an easy spot.

Look again, Aaron . . . that is definitely a Triumph. The split half-nut bar and Triumph-style off/on switch is an easy spot.
