Have authentic examples of gold plated Standard's been found?

Benjamin
I personally have not seen a genuine factory gold Standard but special finishes and decoration was offered on all models. I have seen a mahogany Gem, Standards, Homes, and Triumphs. And I've seen decorated Triumphs, and a Home. In my opinion finding something out of the ordinary makes collecting so interesting. You have to wonder why an original owner would pay substantially more to decorate a modest Edison Standard. I suggested a value of between $5,000 to 10,000 and wish others would offer theirs for a real gold Standard with extra presentation tag.

To my eyes, it looks an awful lot like the finish on Wyatt's gold brush plating of the Triumph.

You think Wyatt's out there pulling our legs on this one? :)

On eBay it all happens in the last 6 seconds. Anything's possible.

I'm assuming this isn't an original plating, as I can't see why one would order a "lower-class" model and have it gold-plated?
In 2015 (IIRC) a gold plated Graphophone Q was sold at the Stanton Auction. The platting appeared to be very old.

EDIT: I did a search -- it was the Breinigsville, PA Auction of October 2014. Sorry, I apparently didn't save any pictures of it. :(

It sold for $560 which is about right for an attractive novelty. Was the buyer a Forum member? Jerry Blais

I don't know, Jerry. I remember the discussion, but only found the single post with the sales lists.

When Jerry wrote "It sold for $560..." he was referring to the gold-plated Standard. :)
