Re: WWI popular music--my short list
Here's a photo of the HMV 10-in, one-sided record that started this thread. It came in a box of mostly very early Columbias, including an Uncle Josh record with an introduction for Columbia records by Cal Stewart.

"Eugene Buckley", which is a pseudonym used by Arthur Fields.colmike1 wrote: Thu Aug 17, 2017 9:20 pm One of my favorite WWI song titles is "Would You Rather Be a Colonel with an Eagle on your Shoulder or a Private with a Chicken on your Knee". It was on Columbia, but I do not recall the artist.
Be sure to look up Samuel Murchison Seka on the interwebs for some music and phonograph reading material.

I used to wonder why there are more WW1 records about than WW2, until it dawned on me that in WW2 they had radio.

I have not seen it previously mentioned, "We Don't Want the Bacon", (what we want is a piece of the Rhine).

Re: WWI popular music--my short list
Here's a few more-- records like this sure were pumped out at a high rate during the time!
(Just off the top of my head)
Buddy Boy
I don't want to get well (I'm in love with a beautiful nurse.)
On patrol in No-Man's land.
Long Boy
I also quite enjoy a Victor Red Seal by John McCormack singing "Over There" in English first, then in French.
