Yes I saw his video and linked it here, and followed everything he said but I got the same result as I had previously, so I know my parts are probably the issue. I must have got a substandard repro brake as Doug said. I think my spring ain’t in the shape it should. I completely agree with your getting a good original Edison Triumph speed control yoke. I believe it will solve your problem. The yoke that you're trying to install looks like a poorly made replacement as I'd mentioned in my comments a while back. The spring steel on/off tab that you have appears (visually in the pictures) to be okay. But it can't hurt to replace that as well if you want since it should be pretty reasonably priced.
Once you have the original Triumph yoke and the correct spring steel on/off tab you should be all set. Brett's video is quite good but please be advised that you can install the speed control yoke and the spring steel on/off tab without removing anything else. Just be sure to allow the mainsprings to wind down completely!
I have replaced the Triumph speed control yoke and the on/off tab on several of my own Edison Triumphs and it is very simple to install both parts without removing anything else. It's a bit tricky to hold the yoke in place while you tighten the screw on the on/off tab but you CAN do it. It might take a couple of tries but you do not need to remove anything else at all on the motor.
Just be sure that you have the yoke positioned correctly and the on/off tab is secured within the cutout in the shaft that extends down through the bed plate for the on/off switch.

I took the works out of its case and turned it over, unscrewed the spring, put the brake where it was supposed to go, put the spring in place and screwed it back in, put the works back into the case, I did everything said and it looked like it sorta worked. I turned the switch a couple times more and once again, It fell out of place, and back to business as usual… I’m with Doug, I think I just have a substandard repro and I’m pretty much convinced my spring is no good either! But can those pivot points where the brake sits get worn off and cause these issues? Does that happen sometimes? Could that a be contributing factor. I definitely got a feel on how to do this now, but I will have to order a different brake and spring.
Hopefully I’ll have this issue fixed when I get new parts to work with. I don’t possibly know what else I could be doing wrong.
Anyway here’s another video of me explaining my problem afterwards.
I wish I could have a better outcome guys, but until I get these 2 parts, this Triumph is out of commission. But at least I understand how to do it correctly.
Oh yeah, I turned the spring on it’s correct side after I took that picture.
