When I read your initial post that was my very first thought.

I gave up on a Paillard portable after years of looking for a 1 inch diameter fibre gear ... I followed many dead ends - including having it printed in the standard medium - worked - for a minute

If this is something you'd like to try? I can send it too you - bearing in mind its a $100 machine - so it would have to be not crazy expensive relative to that.

PS - I moved on, and got a similar Thorens with a non fudged up fibre gear. So at this point its just plain old stubbornness and a desire not to junk an otherwise good machine.

Have you actually successfully made anything yet? I don't recall seeing any pictures or videos. There are a lot of serious people on this board who have invested a lot of time, money and effort to make parts to keep our old machines functioning. I know you have a lot of enthusiasm, but making claims that you can produce replacement parts for a Victor 10-50 at ⅕ the cost without providing any evidence makes me wonder. I suggest that you start with something small and simple. Once you have mastered that, move on to more complex things.

I'm still waiting for anyone to send me a PM with any sort of gear to be made. We've made a PLA drive gear for a robot vacuum cleaner that has held up good.

Do you own any phonographs? I assume so. Take one of yours apart, replicate a gear, or some other piece, and try it out yourself. Let us know how that works out.

I may try that with my Vic III. It's already apart. I don't believe I'll have trouble with gears breaking, as these plastics ought to at least match the strength of pot metal or fiber.
