Yes, I think it was very good value. Really. These things are subjective though of course. There are various brands of gramophone I simply wouldn't buy because they are in my opinion very over priced and over-rated. However, this isn't one of them.

On the other hand, I suppose you could just refuse to pay and let the second highest bidder have it - then just look around and buy a cheaper one.

As if. You know me better than that I hope. It was paid for before the underbidder had caught his breath and realised the game was over!
