When there's fault on both side neither should be seeking approval from the court of public opinion. I feel Don was justified in his first Facebook post because he had no idea who took the cabinet.

I just had a ham & swiss for lunch, on a lightly-toasted croissant with the cheese slightly melted. I decided to add a little “kick” and added some Dijon mustard – not too much however. The meal was complimented with creamy coleslaw, a pickle-wedge and some potato chips. Barbeque flavored – I went wild.

My beverage-of-choice was some slightly-sweet iced-tea.

I’ll be completing some errands this afternoon, including “topping-off” the gas tank.

Which reminds me – why don’t we use Petrol like they do in England? It’s cheaper there.

Yeah, petrol is so cheap in England. The petrol stations are virtually giving it away. Let's hope the price stays low until 2030 when we can only buy electric cars. They will hopefully be giving them away virtually free by that time as well.

To all of those following this thread, I want to put this whole thing to rest. It has gotten way out of control and it is time to move on. Raphael reached out to me this morning and we spoke on the phone hoping to resolve the situation. We spoke amicably and agreed that this whole thing got blown out of proportion and agreed that the bad blood should end. After our conversation, I am satisfied that this was an unfortunate misunderstanding, with circumstances and omissions that were not explained on several fronts and escalated into a "perfect storm." I do not wish to go into detail, as it is not important, but suffice it to say that, after we discussed the details, I do not believe that Raphael set out to steal this cabinet from me. He has agreed to make arrangements to bring the cabinet back to the next Stanton auction and I will pay him the original hammer price. I appreciated the fact that he contacted me and made the gesture to settle the situation.

Not quite right sir -- we won't be able to buy any NEW non- electric vehicles according to what has been said -- but I imagine that was what you meant. You can bet there will still be a healthy second hand market for petrol and diesel vehicles for years afterwards and I'm sure some enterprising individual will find a niche supplying non - electric vehicles from overseas. Personally I can't see it happening , at least not by 2030 --- where are all the charging points in suburban streets ? who is going to pay for their installation --- some streets there just isn't space to put them -- what happens on a long journey when many vehicles need to re-charge at say a motorway service station and there just isn't any charging points available ? what do we do with all the used batteries ? Electric vehicles certainly have a place in the future , there's no doubt about that , but the UK and more to the point , the public will not be ready for it in just over 6 years time -- I'll bet money on it. I agree entirely. There is categorically no way the UK will be ready for an electric car revolution from 2030. What about rural places? It takes us decades to make small improvements here and there. Whilst we talk about building more houses and creating new towns, China has designed, developed and built a metropolis! The same is true of our railways. We've only laid a miniscule percentage of new track compared to China over the past 2 decades. There will never be enough charging points in time. But the biggest elephant in the room is our electricity infrastructure and power generation short fall. Where is all the electricity going to come from? We don't have enough natural carbon free energy generation or nuclear to cope with anticipated demand going forward and that is before you add the massive increase in demand brought on by electrical vehicle charging.

I aim to keep running a petrol car for as long as possible. What will they force upon us next? Making acoustic mechanical gramophones mandatory to replace electrical items providing music? What a travesty that would be for us lot!

I normally buy a new car and keep it for about seven years. The seven years are up and I have a new car on order.
When I first visited the dealership I was asked whether I wanted the electric version. I replied that I wanted to buy a new petrol car while there was still time, before the manufacturers start reducing the availability and choice of their model range.

Having said that, I do not believe that the government's self imposed deadline of 2030 to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars is achievable. They will get a reality check when they finally realise that neither the charging infrastructure or the National Grid are fit for purpose. I live in a holiday area, where a large caravan site recently requested permission to increase the number of their charging points. They were told that this was not possible because the mains electricity supply was inadequate. Enough said.
