Re: Sad sad day
Probably the U.S auction houses are much fairer than here in the U.K , I heard that Northern Ireland is the worst of the lot with logistics prices that are more than driving onto a ferry & picking up the item yourself ....in a taxi.

I really don't like Raphael's "ha ha sucks for you" attitude. That's probably not how you want it to come off, but it's really coming off that way.

What’s wrong with my “attitude”? I’ve tried to tell it like it is, with a few constructive suggestions and compliments thrown in. But this is life in the age of people hiding behind made-up names and then pontificating on what they like and don’t like.

Joel Saleh.... real name.... so far all you've really said about my posts have been a bunch of you're "assumptions" and how if it is not you're way then it's not the right way
you do you. I enjoy what i have and I enjoy the process of collecting and the way I do it. If and when I want to spend money on a pristine set up then I will. But for me it's the joy of the hunt and the fun of getting a deal and working on it and bringing it to life. If you don't like to do stuff that way that's fine good for you. I'm not judging you. Just now how I like I do stuff. Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win but as long as you enjoy it that's what matters. Sorry I'm not doing it you're way but that's ok. World is still turning

I must be going senile, because there was nothing in anything I said that criticized you or your methods. All I mentioned was that there are other methods, such as mine, that don’t come cheap and involve a lot of time as well. I gave you a couple of constructive suggestions about contacting Stanton. Plus a caveat about shipping a horn safely. And, unbeknownst to you, I made a behind-the-scenes effort to help you out.

You're not going senile. I too am completely baffled by the criticism. By both the OP and "Benjamin_L". Apparently, comprehension of the written word has become a thing of the past.Raphael wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 3:38 pm I must be going senile, because there was nothing in anything I said that criticized you or your methods. It's fine I'm not here to argue or debate... all I did with my original post was ask if anyone knew a cheaper way of shipping. Simple as that. If not then no. I didn't need to be told about how it works to do online auctions. I've bought from Stanton's before. And other auctions. I was quite aware after I received the quote I probably would have to let it go. I didn't need to be talked down to about how it's pretty much what I get for doing it online.

Well, how on earth was anyone supposed to know you were so experienced in the whole auction/shipping process? Every single person who answered your post was trying to be helpful. If anyone stated anything that you already happened to be aware of, it was not out of condescencion, but was instead just because they were unaware of your knowledge of on-line bidding.Saleh21 wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 4:07 pm It's fine I'm not here to argue or debate... all I did with my original post was ask if anyone knew a cheaper way of shipping. Re: Sad sad day
Most were helpful. Trying u-ship and other companies i didn't know about was very very helpful helpful. Telling me that there's "more to 'this' than a click of the mouse" so me not going to the auction and not spending all the time and money and mental wear and tear just levels the playing field came off to me as condescending and that I pretty much "got what I deserved"
not as much. Maybe I just took it the wrong way but that's how it came off to me. Text has no tone so maybe he didn't mean it that way. But that's how it seemed. I didn't post on here for drama. I just wanted to see if anyone could give me one last idea before I gave up on it that's all. Sorry if it came off any other way on my end
