There's plenty of them. I would only consent to her recording of Manana and maybe one or two other of those late 1940's novelty type tunes. Which also seem to be the ones that turn up the most.

Hi John, You've got me there, but I have a good excuse. It's because I only collect pre-1908 Victor records (and some of the little 7" and 8" records just because they are so cool.)

I'm going to look into finding the record you mentioned!

I've been a Billy Murray fan since I started collecting vintage records in 1977. It was largely due to Murray's records that I got into the hobby. Murray was primarily a comic singer, a genre at which he excelled. Listen closely to his singing and you will note that he often communicates as much through his voice intonation as through his words. The man was a genius in his comic delivery of a song.

There are alot of records that I am not fond of....what do I personally like, jazz music 1920's, bands from the 20's, 30's and some of the 1940s Big Band. The ones I despise are Frankie Laine, Dinah Shore, Pat Boone and those types of 78's.

As far as Billy Murray, he made some songs that were blah! but what about my favorite.."Yankee Doodle", "Come Josephine in my flying machine" where does a great duet with Ada Jones, and then there is the "Kansas City Kitty" which is absolutely great, it is rare on diamond disc and blue amberol, however a reproduction is available from Norman at http://www.berlinphonographworks.com/index_records.html

Wow just saw Norman has released the Wang Wang Blues...aww aww now there goes lunch for a month, have to have it. These plastic cylinders are addicting.

He made many charming duet records with Aileen Stanley, but here's a funny one- "Keep Your Skirts Down, Mary Anne"

Oh, I don't know. She did some pretty tasty work when she was Goodman's canary. Play her 1942 waxings of "Let's Do It!", or "Where or When" and THEN kick about her, and "Why Don't You Do Right?" is a true swing classic (though of course not in the literal sense, "Swing Classic" being a Victor appellation.
