Re: Wanted 1000 phono needles
I forgot to mention, he will only ship 5,000 at a time, due to some weight restriction for international shipping. My 10,000 came in 2 packages. I'm not really sure what sort of implications that may have on shipping cost.

Well, we could always use an arfreight carrier. If you have a weight I can get a quotation from my forwarder. It cost me $600.00 to ship an Electrola 10-51 to Norway three years back. the last needle order that I received, 100,000 in packs of 200, shipped from Uttar Pradesh cost less than $100.00.
BTW those Indian needles were pretty awful.

Well that is where I sent the email-If I do not hear from him by Monday I will resend- I wonder if he just does not want to bother with such a large amount or if his maxium discount is for 10,000.

Re: Wanted 1000 phono needles
with all due respect, the guy does have a business to run, no? and he does offer bulk discounts already, at least up to a point. but either way, and again with all due respect, is it really worth going through all the time and effort to coordinate among multiple people in multiple locations to together buy a massive amount of phonograph needles only to save a few bucks that would otherwise only be supporting the business of a man whose product seems to really stand out from the rest and whose work everyone seems to praise? and so far as postage savings, will the savings afforded by one huge international bulk shipment really render worthwhile the cost, time and effort to then break up that shipment and resend out separately all the various orders you've been talking about??

Re: Wanted 1000 phono needles
Don't really know about that-that is why I posted the last question, I really did not know about his needles. But if he is working directly with a manufacturer he might be able to make it worthwhile. I have a retail picture and art shop in conjunction with the art restoration business. I normally cannot bid on low cost production jobs-but 2 years ago I had a resort ask me to produce an art and frame combination for their rooms and the numbers let me do it for a price that I did't think was possible. So you don't really know until you ask. I have never felt insulted when someone did and if I could not do it I just told them so...No big deal and you are right he might not or cannot do so. The English can be different I spent a year there in Stratford on Avon learning guilding and they tend to do things their way.

It still never hurts to ask! If he says "no further discount", then so be it, right?

As far as I know he is the manufacturer. He makes springs and other stuff too.need4art wrote:But if he is working directly with a manufacturer he might be able to make it worthwhile.
