Now, see there Pughphonos, some good came out of my butchery of the Schubert for parts. It inspired you to start a registry of machines that still remain on this earth. That is a noble endeavor. Too bad you couldn't just start the registry without continuing to bash me, twice, in your project. Oh well, I'll just have to keep sticking around calling you on it until you GET OVER IT. How long do you really want to keep hearing from me?

Uh, you can think what you'd like, butcher, you're entitled, but you're name says it all to most of us and we're entitled to think what we'd like as well. Here's what I think: what you did was nothing more than an act of pure greed. Destroying a complete, nice, original and scarce machine for the pure love of money isn't something I'd be bragging about, especially here.

Today, I got am email from the "Butcher" of the Edison Schubert. I wanted to warn the other members of the forum of this mass email in case it may have a virus attached. Was this thread removed? If so, why?

Your behavior here doesn't exactly reaffirm your professed love for the hobby. Smells a lot more like greed than love to me.
It should be noted that the "local market" you referred to in your eBay reply above is Pennsylvania. Yep, not a buyer to be found there...

I received a similar email Wednesday night from someone calling himself the " edison killer" and "the butcher"...

Now I'm wondering why the thread about these auctions was removed as well.

I was on my way to pick up my C-19 last night when this all happened. I swear, I leave for a few hours and all Hell breaks loose...

I think that the thread is a good idea in theory, but it isn't a good idea right now & should be tucked away for a while.

To play the devils advocate...since this thread was started to compile a "inventory" of remaining models (a noble thing). I see no reason to slag an individual "multiple" times for taking one apart. It has nothing to do with "this" thread other than to provoke a problem. Even more so, when another thread exists (currently under review) basically doing the same thing to the same individual.
People are free to do whatever they like. Is that not the "American way"...??. Some members also seem to forget that "sellers" are also members of this forum.
This is not a priceless masterpiece being destroyed. Although I may not agree with what was done.......that is their business.

gramophone78: yes, people are indeed free to be idiots, ignorant or greedy, and to destroy their own possessions. But it was a senseless act that saddened a lot of true collectors and the seller quickly resented criticism by a community.

Some individuals might reform after reassessing their actions as being contrary to certain norms after censure from a community, while others will simply rebel against criticism. Perhaps you didn't see that seller's vitriolic rants against targeted forum members before the thread was pulled; the fellow seemed quite unhinged as he threatened to find and dismember more machines as a form of spite.

Forum member or not, makes no difference to me, I call things as I see them. I also casually said in my reply to him that he can "do what he wants" and he did. I also have the right to "do what I want" and express my opinion.
