I have a very early VV-50, S/N 1469
It looks like most of the early machines are mahogany?

Finally installed the new (old) latch to the VV-50. Looks normal now.

I thought I would keep this on the VV-50 thread to keep all things 50 in one place. I haven't seen this, I don't know what it is, ant hill, additional arm rest. I haven't seen it on any of the other machines. So, what is it? It doesn't seem to serve any function and it's a hard material. If it were an additional arm rest, was it supposed to have a rubber stopper? Thanks Gary
ps-I'm still looking for a ratchet pawl to complete a machine. If you have this part let me know.

Could it be the base of one of those record cleaners with the brush that sweeps across the record? If it is, it would probably have been added in the 50s or even 60s.

Might be the base for an accessory tone arm to play records through the new radio?

I’m reviving Kevin’s old thread, but it’s a good one I’ve referred back to a time or two.
I recently acquired a low serial number VV-50, #588. Still needs a little work on the finish and the tone arm tie down was missing, but otherwise in decent shape and appears to be original. Front crank, aluminum horn, no needle box(s). I had an early VV-50 in similar shape, but couldn’t resist a lower serial number!

That is a nice phonograph that followed you home and you just had to keep it. It will clean up nicely.... Nice purchase. The VV - 50 is one of my favorite phonographs. They look good and play well. That is the lowest number I have seen. Tom
