That's uncanny. It almost looks like they started life together and somehow or other the base and the lid ended up in different countries! You are very lucky.

Thanks all, yes I like bringing them back from the dead, this one is getting ever closer, I now have an automatic reproducer for it and most of a carriage, I got an earlier style carriage (1 screw per clip), which has it's adjustment screw, but is missing the half nut spring, lift lever and clips, I'll likely end up making a pair of clips in the workshop, just need to find the other bits and screws for it

Another step closer to completion, automatic reproducer and carriage found, strange that the carriage seems to be made of cast brass, perhaps an early one; the screw for the old shaver doesn’t seem to fit the threads so I’ll have to check that
I plan on making some clips, so just need to find the clip screws, lift lever and screw and half nut spring

It’s definitely come a long way!

My #1104 has a cast iron carriage -- a magnet sticks forcefully. The adjusting screw on yours is also slightly different in shape than others I've seen. The fact that yours is brass, and the shaver screw thread is off, makes me suspect that is a reproduction carriage. If so, it appears to be very well made and should serve perfectly once it's painted and you've rethreaded the screw.
