The Circular felts are usually Green in color and are usually found glued to the Bottom Front corners of the Lid....Not on the Base. Your Red ones will work fine, but they seem a bit big..

Your repair area on the lid is well done. I would try and darken the stain of the repair area a bit...It will vastly improve the looks. Also, I would try and add some missing veneer to the side with the few pieces that are missing and do the same. It will also vastly improve the look.

dzavracky wrote:Thanks! I finished the lid tonight. Sadly the patch is fairly obvious, but I tried my best. For a first veneer patch I suppose it’s not so bad.

I just need a few parts and a reproducer rebuild and it’ll be running! Would these felt pads work? And should I glue them to the lid or where I have them in the picture?

Here’s some more pictures!

Not sure what you're using for a finish coat, but you might try mixing the dye stain with it and lightly brushing over the patch area to darken it up. You can't stain the wood anymore since it's sealed under the finish, but you can darken any additional finish.

Sounds good. The little pieces on the side will be a challenge

Believe it or not, Once you get a sharp X-Acto knife and start cutting then old used veneer and fitting it like a puzzle, Another big tip when making veneer repairs is to pay close attention to which way the grain of the veneer is also going...so the grain flows.. I can tell you this.. It will be a hell of a lot easier than your other veneer repair and it will go a lot quicker than you think. You'll see...Once you get into it. Sticking with the original veneer and repairing it was a no brainer on this one. You'll thank yourself later when you see the results! So far, so good! Keep going!

Yes I am very happy I just repaired the original veneer. The guy at woodcraft told me to just replace the whole panel :?

I was actually really surprised the old veneer flattened out the way it did. I’ll give those little pieces a shot early next week!

(I also sent Mr.Markus the reproducer today ;) ! So now I need a few parts and it’ll be runnin!)

David, if they weren't even carrying the right thickness of wood for that, what do they know about fixing Edison phonographs?

You're going to have a good machine if you can get the last bit of work done.

Ill work on getting the parts later this week. I do not need too many parts which is good :D

EDIT: also what's up with my pictures? They are all the correct orientation on my phone (which is how I post them), but when I open my laptop they are all goin different directions

Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong with the half nut assembly? I finally got the last pieces to have a functioning machine and I can’t figure out how it goes together correctly

What is it not doing David? Engaging? Disengaging?
