I now consider myself a computer geek  Thanks Tinkerbell and all for helping me learn this stuff. Here is a picture looking down the rabbit hole...I tried to get a picture of the TCT label but the flash of the camera hid the view. It looks like a little football....but you can see the TCT on it...but a little faintly. Does anyone need a far away view of the TCT label?

You're an expert now, Greenhorn! That's a very decent horn - - more interesting than the stock Victor variety.

Being a fussbudget, I must point out that the decal should be described as a TTCo, despite the trademark which centers the "Co." portion. The manufacturer of your horn was the Tea Tray Company (TTCo.).

Good luck with your machine!

It's good to have you, ahem, self-proclaimed "fussbudgets" around to help us newer folk toe the mark! (That is... newer as in newcomer, not as in age -- I am certainly not that!)

Truthfully, I have learned soooo much from the generous contributions of others on this board. Now, the trick is to find a way to actually "retain" that newfound knowledge!! :rose:

Aw, thanks, Tink! I just don't want to come off as grouchy or some know-it-all.

Sometimes I reflect that it's really no skin off my back if someone's using inaccurate terminology or using an incorrect date, and I'll simply lurk. But usually I'll scold myself by thinking, "I want someone to correct me when I'm off the mark," and then I'll usually chime in, but there's always that risk of having one's motives misinterpreted.

Never any danger of that, GeorgeP. :D

I, myself, prefer to know if I am mistating something so I do not unintentionally mislead someone by being either ill-informed or just flat out incorrect. :rose:

Doesn't appear to be any more questions, so here is what I've decided to do.

I will post the machine over on Yankee Trader, perhaps tonight if I get a chance, and then you guys can have your fun...me too! I was struck by the amount of attention just the "greenhorn" received versus the machine as a whole. One post from Tobia was striking to me....something about my machine caught the attention of a 2-year member with only 11 posts. That said something to me.

Also had a chance to notify some people over at MAPS (Michigan Antique Phonograph Society) via email about viewing the machine on Yankee Trader. I have not heard back from them but they may be busy with an upcoming show in Charlotte, MI. I also had a chance to review pricing on completely rebuilt Vic III's for about 2300.00, or thereabouts...via a link from this site.

I would hope someone from this forum likes the machine to the extent that they would consider a drive to pick it up....as I think @ this time I will make it a pick up only.

Given all that....I've decided to start the price at $1395 and go from there- with an emphasis on pick up only. Thanks to all of you for some great professional help. Rick....The Computer Geek

Just wanted to let you guys know that the Vic III did sell....and to someone not only local to the Detroit area, but a member of this forum as well.

He said he would post some pictures after he gets done doing whatever he's going to do with it...but he agreed with you guys that it was in good original condition. No regrets...glad to see someone who is passionate about this type of collectible enjoy something so nice. Kinda like giving a pet away to a loving family.

I also edited the Yankee Trader area indicating it was sold.

Again, thank you all very much for your help and assistance...especially learning how to post pictures.

Signing off....and may all your needles stay sharp  Rick

A new skill that will serve you well. Now that you know how to do it, you will no doubt be burning up the internet (and other forums, perhaps) with your pictures.

Sorry to see you go; come on back if you ever develop the bug for phonographs!

It was me!

The machine cleaned up very nicely. Beyond polishing the nickel, I really had to do very little to the outside. I'm just waiting on a few parts for the governor and some supplies to rebuild the reproducer, which should be coming tomorrow. I'm planning on cleaning the mainsprings this weekend. I will post some pictures once everything is up to my standards. 8-)

Oh, and that green horn is just the toast of the town!
