Even more so, when another thread exists (currently under review) basically doing the same thing to the same individual.
People are free to do whatever they like. Is that not the "American way"...??. Some members also seem to forget that "sellers" are also members of this forum.
This is not a priceless masterpiece being destroyed. Although I may not agree with what was done.......that is their business.
Forum member or not, makes no difference to me, I call things as I see them. I also casually said in my reply to him that he can "do what he wants" and he did. I also have the right to "do what I want" and express my opinion. ;)

Of course there's no law against what he did but that does not mean we have to be silent about such behavior or refrain from criticizing behavior that, in my opinion and the opinion of many others is detrimental to the hobby. Discussion about the stewardship of these things in our temporary posession is entirely relevant here imho. :monkey:

I agree that we all have the right to state how we feel about a certain issue/person.
However, my point is.....the slagging of a person has no real place on a thread regarding an "inventory" of these model's for posterity. In fact the negativity may have stopped some from adding their machine to such a list. Not wanting to be associated with such nonsense.
Also, as I mentioned......there is already a thread (sound board in this case) regarding this particular machine/person.

Now both threads are joined together. How does that help posterity to us real collectors...???. Not really sure.

No they are not joined together. Our moderator has wisely moved all the slagging to this thread and thus edited the Inventory thread. The buther's entire rant is is also restored so you can get a true sense of his love of the hobby.

Thanks Bruce, I realized after I posted (now edited) the "inventory" is still in Machines. It's just way down the list now..... . Good to see it still there. I was enjoying it.

Quoted for truth.

And joining a forum specifically to rant about being butthurt by well-deserved criticism, then announcing an intention to stick around and be a troll on that forum? Stay classy, Edison Killer.

Glad to see this thread was revived. I think it should stay on for historical purposes.Personally, I thought it was funny as heck when I read the "Butcher's" rants. We need a good laugh once in a while. I almost missed my appointment today. I never laughed so hard

Hi all. To be as proper as possible on the Edisonic inventory, I am just about to remove the one and only negative adjuctive I included about the Croydon, PA dealer. All other references there to him and the machine formerly in his possession are strictly factual and need no alteration. However, THIS thread (the one started by Valecnek--"14 Separate Auctions") is where many of us have expressed our opinions about what happened, and I am glad that the moderator is letting that record stand in its entirety.

I deeply appreciate people's interest in the Edisonic inventory and I am accessing it daily to keep its index as current as possible. I'm currently attending an archival conference in Kansas City, MO (just heard an interesting presentation on Charlie Parker) and am accessing the forum via my wife's lap top.

:o Same kind of butcher stuff happens in other areas
too. I just can't name all of the wonderful, perfectly
viable railroad steam locomotives which were scrapped
in the prime of their lives. Similar motivation there
too, with those. Namely, the owners wanted to make a quick
buck on the scrap value of the steel in them, with nary
a thought in their mind (can you really call that a mind?)
about the enjoyment this machine might hold in the future
for people then, to see it run.

We have seen this in the railroad museum world too.
Many a fine streetcar and interurban cars, passenger
coaches, mail cars, all sorts of restorable rail
equipment has been "deascentioned" from museums, only
to be scrapped.

Bottom line: Sure, ya can't save 'em all.
But when someone openly chooses to scrap something
out "for parts" to make a quick buck, that is very
sad. Especially for something as robust as an
Edison Diamond Disc machine!

I now return the thread back on to its topic.
(Had to borrow it for a second here to make a point)

Chuck, I too wish more of our past could bet saved for future generations. I'm an historian and am definitely geared that way.

Heeee's baaack!

Make it 15 separate auctions....

At least it's the same old Schubert; when I first saw the posting I thought "Geez, another Schubert being parted out."

In defense of those of us who took this guy to task nearly two years ago: since then we've not seen any other instances of Edisonics being parted out.
