The other thing about using sides from two different records is, I have records that have one side that's in great shape and the other side isn't, and the good side is a really good tune. And I have no problem loaning out whatever I have in the diamond disk department that might be of interest. And I know of a couple of other guys around here that have a nice collection too and I don't think they would have any problem with that. But it's easy to see from reading this thread that making choices won't be very easy. Haha!

Making a two sided DD mold is a ton of work, making one with sides from two different records would be more labor than I could justify. Making a double sided mold isn't twice as time consuming as a single sided, it's 10 times more. But who knows, after I have the experience of copying a few more, that may change.
Earl, thanks for the offer of discs. I'd like to make some single sided ones that have good songs only on one side. I'm currently experimenting with some of my own and would love to borrow some after I get all the details worked out.

Yes, one sided DDs of great titles would be fine with me too. I didn't realize the two-sided ones were that hard to make. There's so much variety on Edison DDs that it's mind boggling! I just discovered my first Willard Hodgin record. It is a Hillbilly record on 52204 Don't love a smiling sweetheart/ Courtin' the Widow. I'd love to find a copy of 52332 Love is a Ticklish Thing/ An Ugly Gal's Got Something Hard to Beat. It is Hodgin's last Edison record. I've discovered that dance bands and jazz aren't the only good music out there.

I'm of the opinion that copied Diamond discs would be better received if they had both original sides as originally done. It could get too complicated, otherwise, at least at first.
I'm also of the opinion that the unaffordable, exciting and rare discs should be considered first.
Just my 2¢.

How about that Charlie Skeete disc. That would be great to do if you could find a good one to copy.
Good point, John! And I do have record. I used it as the source for the
Deep Henderson cylinder. I'll try to get that done soon after I have Hurricane out. Now there is going to be some playlist to assemble...

Norman, Are your DDs going to be single sided? Marc.

A couple have requested different colors recently... looking at them together makes it feel a little like Christmas

Intriguing colors, Don!
Marc, my current test is actually single sided. For a wear test there is no point to have two sides. In general, both is possible, of course. But I am considering that it might be more economic to do two single-sided records instead of one double-sided.
It would also allow the option of black discs that could be easily identified as modern duplicates as I am very much concerned about misrepresentation by future sellers. That's why any of these duplicates should have a certain 'feature' that cannot be disguised to fake an original record.
