Yes... probably cheaper, although these motors may also need work... It's easy that all these things in the end cost more than the complete machine. Once acquired, one's machine should be approached with love, and forget about the costs of anything you do with it. It's only for the sake of restoring it to its former glory. This also increases its value... but over all, it increases your appreciation of it and your own satisfaction, proportionally to the work you've put on it. ;)

You can send the barrels as they are to someone to do the job for you, clean, grease and reinstall the springs, or replace them if too tired. Pity it's that these springs are getting more expensive each month... Not too much time ago they costed €45 each, but now, they cost much more, and as they are heavy, shipping costs are not cheap neither. You need to find someone in EU, to save the customs. Until the Brexit, UK was a very interesting option, but now the shipping costs and customs taxes and the VAT etc have rocketed the cost. You better should try to do it yourself, and reuse the same springs if possible. You just need strong hands and thick protective gloves.
Right now there is a couple of full HMV32 motors for sale in the UK eBay. It will be much cheaper to get a full replacement motor than buying new springs.
I do admit I just got the VAT invoice from customs for the needles I ordered on ebay.
I am really shocked as I have to pay the same amount in customs fees as the corst of the order! This is insane...

Agree completely. UK has always been the place to go for the best gramophone supplies this side of The Pond. Now that they're out of the EU it's become a nightmare. We are still used to do commerce with the UK and are getting these nasty surprises... It's a pity
Probably it is better to go there in person as a tourist, pick up the goods from the dealers, and come back home with the supplies in your baggage... Anyway I think they are applying to us the customs taxes related to commercial activity. Traditionally, the goods imported for our own particular consume where exempt from taxes... But now that The Crows are watching.... Who knows!

Indeed, I was thinking of going there as a tourist too, but then with passport costs and change fees it's a bit of the same thing; extremely expensive.
Its a shame really, because it becomes almost impossible to restore some old but beautifull things...
Only good thing is that this allowed me to find a very nice album on a fleemarket this weekend  they sell for almost nothing now that fewer and fewer people have working machines. Still a few on my bucketlist to find though!
