Goodnight, Irene as played by anybody, Though I'm a fan of it's composer, Hudie Ledbetter aka Leadbelly.
But that meandering, dull song drives me crackers whenever I have to hear it. It was the Weavers, I believe that made a hit on it, around 1949, and it got recorded by many others.

New nominee: "The Twelve Days of Christmas" (the partridge in a pear tree thing). I was in a retail store this morning and an instrumental version was playing over the sound system. Just about drove me nuts. I shudder to think that I'll be hearing this abomination of a tune every time I walk into a store, for another four weeks or more.

The "Uncle Josh" records, especially with him laughing at his own jokes, get tedious. Despise might be too strong, I just don't care for them.
"Horses" by the Six Polar Bears was my Aunt's favorite record. I have a copy.

Tiny Tim. He didn't make 78's, but I truly despise his renderings / butcherings of 78 era popular songs.

Johnny Hicks, "Butane Blues"
".... now I take my stove to bed with me to keep me warm, but there ain't no stove like my baby's lov'n arms, all the gas is gone and I'm alone and oh so cold...."
Horrible!

Marlene Dietrich and Rosemary Clooney Too Old The Cut The Mustard.
Must have been a hit, because there's a goodly quantity of that on Columbia 78. Hate it.
Oh, and Glenn Miller In The Mood. Just for being sick of it, and it not even being the best tune in the Miller book, to be so overplayed.

While I'm on Christmas music, add "The Little Drummer Boy." Like to strangle him....

ANYTHING played in a mall, store or on the street between Thanksgiving and about the middle of January.
