Hello everyone!

I have been playing records after work and have played perhaps 25 of them (50 sides about) so far with no issues. The new diamond, combined with Larry H's diaphragm and Steve Medved's rebuilding talent have resulted in great sound. I will keep playing records and update you all from time to time.

I am so excited about the new Bruce Diamond Stylus for Edison. When everything is tested, I will want at least a couple of them.

I am thankful to larryh and all of those that make this possible.
I just can't believe that brand is still out there selling replacements for 150.00 each, especially since they have had problems. It seems the other brand does not care many people have brought it to their attention.

I am wondering if APSCO Wyatt's and the other shops will be selling the new Bruce Diamond.

I am happy you appreciated my information, thanks for letting me know you found it informative. The more information we have the better. I am very thankful for those who enjoyed my posts and a special thanks to all those who have helped me.

The major players from my point of view in this were Steven and Ron. The others I didn't know, but many of you as well played a part in hoping for an alternative selection of a new Disc Stylus. Probably the main input I had was to go though a lot of stylus in my attempts to produce a reasonable sound for the reproducers. Steven held this all together and for that we all should be grateful. Its been my pleasure to have Steven as a friend and someone who encouraged me. But I can't take any credit for the hard work of developing a source, Others were responsible for that.

I am looking forward to this new stylus. When it came to replace my old stylus from brand X I did not know I would be out several hundred dollars from defective diamonds. And that old stylus was purchased by me back in 1993 from Leo Hirtz. I have one from brand X purchased around 2003 and one NOS reproducer. So it's been hassle swapping between three machines!

So my hats off to all involved in this endeavor.

Have been watching this development, and I'm over the moon that there is at last a viable alternative to the "osmium" currently available. A hearty thanks to all those involved in bringing these to market.

Hopefully this will also be available as an installable point for the C-2 electric, as that cannot use the standard needle bar. If so, that will be the first one I get.

This is part of an email I sent to Steve M. reporting the sound I am getting from his rebuild with the new stylus and the Larry H. True Tone Diaphragm:

"I played another 15 or so records tonight and, since I wasn't beat from making constant adjustments, I could really sit and enjoy the music. Once again, I must compliment your rebuilding skills. One big "theme" for tonight's listening session was that many records were loud but not ear splitting. Somehow, even the loudest of records seemed controlled and pleasant. The highs were crisp and bright and the horns strong and mellow. An early frosty record that sounded like Elizabeth Spencer was amazingly clear and her high voice was handled superbly by the reproducer. Those early records are bizarrely good. Piano records had wonderful vibrancy and all the records had a "follow you down the hall" sound when I walked out of the room. I'm used to phonographs sounding more "canned" when you move farther away. The Edison actually sounded almost more real as the surface noise disappeared. Dance records had great punch and the banjos were very prominent."

I hope this can serve as a testament to the great work both of these men do and to the great efforts other also played in getting the stylus project off the ground.

I think we may end up with a stylus pushing the Edison to its limits, that would be awesome.

Are you using an original diaphragm or a new one with the stylus?

I'm using the True Tone Diaphragm. On of my reproducers didn't have an original (so I picked up one of Larry's) and the other was rebuilt by Steve with the True Tone when I first got it. I also have been using the cylinder version of the True Tone on my Amberola 30, which also has a Bruce stylus.

And, so that I am fair to everyone, if you have many reproducers (some people do) I think you should try to keep a good original diaphragm along with the assortment of other new diaphragms so that you can compare all of them. I would love to see a video comparing Larry's diaphragm with not only an original, but some of the other replacement diaphragms. Obviously, I really am pleased with Larry's design.

This is great news! These new T-bar Diamond Amberola needles are much needed and long awaited!

Steve Medved is a great guy. I met him at the Orlando Phonograph show a few years ago. I had him look at my Business phonograph reproducer.
