Larry:

Congratulations, I would say that is one beautiful machine. I really like that style of cabinet. Just beautiful.

Looks like its ready to wipe down and display.

Your luck has been better than mine, went over to a craigslist seller nearby, got my hopes up and found a VV-XI tabletop. I ran over there with a couple hundred bucks, bought the machine, and despite the beautiful cabinet, someone swapped out all the gold parts. LOL I am about 50% completed on this project thanks to some of our members on the forum that came through with the parts.
I should have known better, Ironically, I posted a thread here just a week before I bought it about our phonograph market here in NW Indiana being overpriced and not so good machines.

You got an excellent deal and maybe the good luck will start going around for all of our members.

All the best,

Jerry

The button you can't push up or down. I let the spring wear down flipped the switch on the Variac and it winds an finally shut off. I let it run down and the phonograph motor stopped. Flipped the switch back on and it wound the spring shut off so I let the turntable run down and when it was still playing and after 15 minutes motor come on and wound the spring back up. So you can keep playing records and it will self wind shut off when its wound up tight, let it run down and it winds up the spring again automatically . In other words it works by its self shuts on and off when needed.

Well, that's even cooler! Surprising they didn't figure out some way to keep the crank from spinning along as it winds.

I guess if the winder kicks in while a record is playing it might be a bit distracting, but otherwise it sounds pretty clever.

PeterF,

When the motor winds up and shuts off I checked the crank and it slips so you can't over wind it by hand. Thank You for Your help and I Thank everyone for their kind words about the Phonograph.
