This is 6 coats of shellac..... do I need to put any more coats on? Here is the left door and the back panel. The plugs I made for the back didn’t come out perfect, but the holes are a lot less noticeable now.

The right door needs a good bit of work, so I’ll be working on that today.

That looks like tremendous progress!

One or two tips I might add. I find it best to have all the parts repaired, prepped and ready for staining and finishing before beginning that process. That way, all staining, then after the stain dries, all finishing, is done at relatively the same time. This helps to control variations in color & finish from one piece to the next. With the exception of the doors, I would also wait to finish the cabinet itself until it's reassembled. This keeps finish off of areas that may later need to be glued. Also, prevents damage to the finish from the assembly process and helps to "seal" any seams between mating parts. The thickness of a finish on mating surfaces can also effect how well those pieces align when assembled.

My plan was to finish the two doors and back panel this winter. I won't be able to make a new top, 3 new feet, glue the cabinet back together and finish it before school starts. Plus once the doors are done I can have them in my record room and I can look at them

I’ve been waiting since May 31 for this moment!

I now present both doors and the back panel stripped of the paint, grain filled, stained, and finished.

Sadly I don’t think I’ll be posting any updates on this cabinet for awhile. It will most likely be the summer when I can begin making the new top.
