I have now installed a stylus in my Edisonic Conversion Reproducer. It has played probably 30 selections. I see no evidence of its marking the run off. Lets hope it remains that way.

A standard head that was dealer or factory updated to use the heavier weight. Not one sold originally as Edisonic.

We have so many Universal Reproducer/Tone Arms such as Silvertone, Heineman etc. I am wondering if it will be possible to make the Edison "Straight Stylus" for these universal reproducers? At present we only have originals and they are hard to find.

I would imagine that at least some of them could have their styluses replaced, as long as there is a way to remove them.

I was waiting for an answer from Steven before posting anything. His feeling was that if enough demand was out there then they could probably produce them to work on other machines. He also though has fashioned one to fit a non edison reproducer and if only a few now an then needed it he could proceed that way.

I was asked to update the testing of the stylus..

So far I have played around 345 sides with the new stylus. I checked to today in a clean run off and it was impossible to tell where the stylus had been. I have two others which I am using much less but they both have the same results. I was most pleased that the edisonic head with the extra heavy weight also produced nothing in the run off. The only time I tired another brand of new stylus in it it left major evidence of running in the grooves.

The sound is very good with no distortion on good records.

I had mentioned earlier that one thing that stuck me was the fact that with the lid up I got either no, or very little feedback from the reproducer. I have now arrived at the conclusion that there is some advantage to having the lid open, it seems to make the total sound a bit more dispersed. I still think the lid down concentrates more tone to the grill which also has a good sound, but that lid open is also satisfying especially if you have a large area for the sound to develop in.

Any word on when people who have been waiting for years now will be able to order them? The suspense is killing me here, especially since I'm out over $800 from the "other company".
