I certainly second that. It truly is great if some of those rare disks were made availble as repros at an affordable price...it also means that the owners of the original can get a copy which can be played guilt free. So great thanks to both Don and Norman for their efforts on this.billybob62 wrote:Thanks, Don.
I have no idea how you guys do this and appreciate your explanation.
However this comes out, (and, of course, there may be new ways to improve on the way this is currently done), you both are filling a need and we thank you.

I'm happy to say I've successfully made a molding just this morning. Depending on how long it takes to cast the copies, I may have some available by tomorrow!

Why don't we all throw 10 or 15 more requests at Don... I would like a blue one or an orange one or a red one with inlays or a three sided puzzle record with variations of the same song on each side...
This has turned into an 8 page thread and we haven't let Don announce a title for sale or complete his first task. What started out as a great idea for rare titles at a reasonable price is becoming an unlimited request line before he has even started. It's obvious that there may not be 12 interested buyers for the same title, so why doesn't he just produce the entire Diamond Disc catalog and charge $800 for one off requests?

The sides by Arthur Fields and his Assassinators should be considered. Here's an example, which has been on my personal want list for a looooooong time.

While I don't have a 3 sided puzzle, I can offer any color you like (shade not guaranteed). Right now I have.. .
"I can't give you anything but love"
"Yes she do" / "Hallelujah!".
Next up on my list of DD's are "The Little Ford Rambled Right Along" and a package of the Edison tuning disc, as well as the correct tone pipe to go with it. There are also some really fun surprises coming up in the next month or so...

Yes, I agree with you there! That's a great one, but I don't have it. Did you know that Gladys Rice of all people also made a DD of I Fall Down and Go Boom! To see what I have to offer, see my list above. Of course that's only if someone agrees, or wants to copy one of them. I wish someone would duplicate the McAlpineers Red Hot!. That would be my number one request. Your number one request for showing off what a DD can do should be Chinese Wedding Procession by the Goldman Band. But it's a rare record that not many know. And yes, these guys can't satisfy every collector's request for a favorite record. In the end, it will be up to their judgement. Marc. The sides by Arthur Fields and his Assassinators should be considered.

I was pretty much going to say the same thing. Don is well aware that there are several of us who have offered discs for copying. I've been leaving him alone because I know exactly just how overwhelming these kinds of requests can get. Word got out (my fault) recently that I bought a massive record collection and I although I prefaced my statement with "I will not be able to get all of this moved / sorted / cleaned for months, so please no requests for specifics or a visit until I say so", I still got hammered with them. Let's let everyone do their thing here for a bit.Curt A wrote:Why don't we all throw 10 or 15 more requests at Don... And Norman, I'm excited to get some of yours, although I have some of those on originals, so I'll save a few bucks! "My Gal Sal" has been on my list for over 30 years. Very exciting!

Re: Check out the new Diamond Disc repros! Fantastic!
I just want to make it clear that the list of DD titles that I put up was not meant as a demand that they be copied. As I said, I know that Don and Norman can't copy every favorite record for everybody. The list I put up was just for the benefit of making some good titles available if wanted or needed. In fact, I think it would be good for more, not less, people to weigh in with their needs to give some idea of what people want and how big a market there is for this enterprise. Just because someone puts up a want list doesn't mean Don or Norman have to produce it. And also if you have a good DD library that you would be willing to loan if the producers see something they want to produce, it would be good to list it.

Ahhhhh..."My Gal Sal" by Winegar's...that is indeed one of the best Edison Diamond Discs ever recorded. It has a wonderful toe-tapping arrangement. I looked for about 20 years myself for this Edison Diamond Disc and finally found two of them in near mint condition. For anyone who has not yet had the opportunity to listen to this wonderful recording I featured it years ago on my YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbW12Nplch0OrthoSean wrote: "My Gal Sal" has been on my list for over 30 years.
