What sort of output do you have from your amp? ¼" or ⅛" jacks? RCA? Either way you should be able to run out from the amp into your computer’s sound card. If you haven’t already, check out this thread (and revisit it with questions). We have quite a few people that do very good transfers that no doubt have good advice to offer on that front.

Yes, thats correct David. Certainly post war, but exaclty when I'm not sure.

I just had a quick look over on 78discography.com. I didn't find a record on US Columbia with matrix HCO 2084, but HCO 2083, 'Hora staccato' by Benny Goodman's orchestra was recorded 15 October 1946 and released on 37207.

The above Columbia is quite attractive, Here's a "Swing Series" HMV disc, did English Columbia and HMV have some joint thing going on with this?

Parlophone also did a swing series too. I have some examples of those from the mid 1940's. Looks like HMV started the ball rolling though as I have swing series HMV's from 1937 onwards. On the whole they are very good with few dud recordings.

Hora staccato is the flip side to this disk...perhaps they got the matrix numbers muddled...probably some one having a dizzy blonde moment I expect!!

The other side of 37207 is 'Man here plays fine piano' (vocal by Eve Young), matrix HCO 2110, recorded 22 October 1946.

David, I have RCA jacks in a 1963 vintage fischer reciever/amp, 500C I think. I checked out the other thread. I'm pretty sure I'm smart enough to understand it and make this work. Bart has a very similar configuration, (Rec O cut turntable) and graphic equalizer. I'll fiddle with it and be back with additional questions if needed.

Your amp needs to have a tape recorder loop, you'd make the connection to your soundcard via the record out (RCA) jacks on the back of the Fisher unit.

Barring that, you probably don't have any other options except to run from the (¼ inch cannon plug) headphone jack, which is a marginal solution at best.
