Did you clean the mainsprings? I haven't been following the restoration thread very closely on this one; it's looking rather interesting though. Dirty springs can cause a machine to lose power, as can dirt anywhere else.

Is it possible that the record skips at the end because the half nut has run off the end of the lead screw before the song ends? Happens a lot, especially with 4 minute records that have shrunken and will not go on the mandrel far enough for the carriage to reach the end of the tune.AmberolaAndy wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 8:30 pm Now it wants to be a turd by starting slow then speed up playing normally! Persnickety machine this is! I wonder if it’s that 2/4 minute switch a culprit of robbing power at the beginning of a record?
Ok. I found out if I wait a few seconds for the machine to speed up that issue doesn’t happen! Lol. But now the record skips at the end!

That was before I landed into the big pickle I am in now. Like I said more times than I’d like to admit, every time I attempt to fix something I end up goofing it worse! I also admit I unscrewed the half nut and tracking bar a couple times to see if moving it in its place would do anything. but It has not.JerryVan wrote: Sat Jun 18, 2022 4:28 pmIs it possible that the record skips at the end because the half nut has run off the end of the lead screw before the song ends?
