I just bought a Grafonola this weekend and my husband found a pink plastic Barbie brush inside the speaker along with pencils and other small junk.

Found a Gillott's 170 pen nub when cleaning the motor in my VV-50. These ara worth ~$3.50, about what I spent on the grease and oil. :)

An unrestored talking machine arrived here today from Florida. Imagine my delight while sticking my fingers into the mechanism and finding THIS! I've included a toothbrush for scale...

Ewww... um, thank you for sharing :?: Those are the kinds of surprises I prefer NOT to find in my phonographs or antiques!

On a related note, judging by the flaring of those toothbrush bristles, it's time to replace your toothbrush!

George,
Oh, don't mind him. He's my local phonograph picker/security guard!

I have found a new packet of tungsten victrola needles inside a VV-VI and then I found a half full packet of astatic steel needles in a Orthophonic VV 2-55.

My worst nightmare would be roaches and thats why the phonographs go staight to the workshed for inspection, cleaning and roach spraying.
