All of the Puritan phonographs I've seen had the horn's mouth at the bottom of the cabinet.

All of the Puritan phonographs I've seen had the horn at the bottom of the cabinet.
Oh, I was wondering about the horn position. I thought maybe not all of them were
at the bottom. There is an oak Puritan for $400 on the San Diego Craigslist and its been there forever. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/atq/1778601904.html And at
that price it will stay there forever.

Just discovered this thread. An amazing variety of phono brands, many I had not seen before, and a few of them quite handsome.
There is a Starr near me that has a nice cabinet, but doen't work, somebody wants $100 for. Trying to decide if I even want to go see it. Of course if I got another upright I might have to keep it in the bathtub.

Starr machines can have very nice cabinets- a benefit of being built in a piano factory. The pot metal tone arms are a problem though and since they didn't get them from a generic supplier repairs can be tricky.
