Hi, I found this Brunswick and was thinking of purchasing it. Just wanted to know a little more about it since I am uneducated with this brand. Want to make sure I dont pay to much. Thanks.

I might add that if the Brunswick is "reasonably" priced, I would also grab it. Those Brunswick brilliant brass Ultona tone arms with the three way reproducers (read here = NOT pot metal) are quality items. If the Edison stylus and Pathé sapphire are still present and intact, an even better find.

Even the fitted record albums are all present.

If it was over here I would go for it.

I have a Brunswick that looks almost if not exactly like that one. It has an electric motor and the Ultona tone arm as well as another electric pickup arm. The electric arm has a control at its base and has a support for it to rest on when not in use. There is also a lamp in the playing compartment that is of bakelite as is the arm with the electric pickup. The pickup is the magnetic variety such as was used in that period of early electrical pickups. In my opinion the electrical puckup was added in the late 20's or very early 30's. The electric motor for the turntable was originally wired for 220 which I changed to 120. The machine had come from Germany and I rewired it for the previous owner before they sold it to another person who sold it to another who sold it to me. The motor is the unuversal type as was used in early Victor VV XVI machines with resistor banks; they were made to operate on a variety of voltage settings so all to do to change the setting was to move the connections to their prpoer places for the voltage used by the machine. It is a beautiful machine and has a very light colored horn as many Brunswicks had at that time. I guess that it was made in the early 1920's and looks to have been one of their more expensive machines. definitely a nice looking machine

I also Own a Brunswick Table model that has the Ultona sound box Mine play's Pathé' records has the sapphire ball stylus also has the edison DD diamond top that plays the ¼ in dd it has also the 78 needle holder that plays 78s I love this lil gem picked it up many years ago at an estate auction forgot what it cost i think it was about #$125-35.>? not really sure

If you have the space for it by all means get this. That's an above average period case and having all the albums is a nice feature. I wouldn't want to pay more than $400 tops, and less if there is any mechanical trouble or case damage.

Brunswick machines can sound very good.

On the plus side, the cabinet is stunning and must have been very expensive when new. On the minus side, it's a console with limited collector appeal. Buy it if YOU like it. Don't buy it if you plan to sell it the near future. Jerry B.

My first phonograph is a Brunswick console (York) and I still play it very frequently. Its sound is always so pleasant, especially with records of classical music, and it's my wife's favorite phonograph. (She is a music teacher by profession and has very good ears.) If you have the space, why not own one for your own listening pleasure?

Beautiful machine. Most definitely worth considering.
