Tambour top Pathé

I was scanning thru the local auctions and came across an oddity at one of the higher end auctions here in town. I knew I had seen it before and began scanning thru "the books". I'm getting pretty good because in the second one I looked thru, starting from back to front because I knew it wasn't a really old one, I came across pictures of the Pathé "Progress" on pg 170 in Discovering Antique Phonographs 1877-1929. This one is from the mid-teens and was offered only in Pathé's British line. That makes sense since this auction normally sells furniture from UK shipments. It came with a reproducer made to play lateral records but it is branded Pathé and has the right connector to make me think it is original to the machine. I had a vertical cut Pathé reproducer already and that is in the pics shown below.

Thanks once again to Tim and George for educating guys like me so I can head off to auction with the knowledge I need to make (or not) a good purchase. I'm happy this one worked out in my favor. The record cleaner and child's record set were a nice bonus that were included.

Great machine. Pathé really had a talent for building unusual gramophones.

Thanks for sharing.
