Great to hear that you've made some progress. I think that there's something you can improve. To my ears it still sounds either like a lateral wiring or a wrong stylus size which could be both the reason for the low volume.
What I learned at the old board was that you can do it digitally too by transferring the record in stereo. Then you have to invert just one channel and join both into one mono signal.

Is it a black etched-label disc?

Found the problem; I had my stereo console on the wrong equalizer setting
