I just recently bought a rear mount Talkophone arm and bracket for my Talkophone Clarke model.I'd like to see any pictures as how it is mounted on the case.I'd like to see the inside of the case, also to see if a plate was used or nuts on the screws. I remember seeing a picture in one of the George Paul/Tim Fabrizio series of books.

Here are photos of a modestly priced Talk-O-Phone. The back bracket is mounted in the middle of the cabinet similar to a Victor. The needle chuck touches the spindle when the tone arm is rotated that direction. There is a rectangular plate on the inside of the cabinet.

Here are some photos of an expensive Talk-O-Phone. The back bracket is mounted towards the crank side of the rear panel. The needle chuck touches the spindle when the tone arm is rotated that direction. It also has a plate to help mount the back bracket. I hope this helps. Jerry Blais

That's interesting, I always thought that rear mounted Talkophones had brackets mounted on the rear of the cabinets toward the winding side and not centrally mounted thus granting them a better needle alignment and less tracking error? It appears that there are already holes in the 'cheap' Talkophone pictured here where I'm saying. I appreciate that these were probably originally for a front mount arm but much like their contemporaries, didn't Talkophone 're-use' these holes when the rear mount hardware was produced? I doubt there are many GENUINE rear mount Talkophones anyway. Most are 'after market' creations using unused stock that existed when Talkophone was wiped out by the Big Two.

Yes, it's a bit like that shameless product placement in modern films. You just feel that nothing is on show without a good reason!
