Credenza pot metal reproducer help in Toronto?

I recently purchased a Victor Credenza with a pot metal reproducer. Although it appears to be quite solid with no cracks, breaks or bulges, it buzzes and rattles during play. Also, the volume is low so I know the sound box needs some tech help. Is there someone in the Toronto area or Southern Ontario who can help?

Another thing: The ID plate states "Credenza" not 8-30 and yet the platter is positioned on the right hand side with the record shelf on the left. Could this be a hybrid machine from two different years?

Many thanks.

I would suggest sending your reproducer to Peter Wall. He is in CA but you can find him on Ebay. He fixed mine with a broken spider and tuned it up for less than $40. It was fast turn around too. He is really the orthophonic guru so far as I can tell.

The turntable in the Credenza was moved over to the right fairly early on, in, as I recall the spring of 1926, long before the 8-30 came out Ten or twenty thousand machines were built with the offset turntable before tin inclusion of the record rests such as were found on the 8-30. Some "Credenza> machines also included these record rests.

Regarding your question of a person in Toronto or Southern Ontario.....most have retired from this type of work now. However, you may want to go to our "links" section on this forum and look up the Canadian Phonograph group that are based out of Ontario. You will find the link as "CAPS".
You can also look in our "tech & tips" section as this issue has been raised there many times.
Best of luck to you.

Thanks for that. I've tried to find him on ebay without success. Would you have a link to his ebay homepage?

Thank you. Now I have a couple of options. I'm looking forward to hearing my big boy in all its glory.

I can add a hearty second to recommending Peter. His eBay handle is peterw4214. Look for listings with the title "Victor Orthophonic Reproducer Repair Service." There is almost always one there.

I will have to recommend Peter Wall as well, he did great work on my 8-35 reproducer.
