$10 Silvetone in Seattle area

Seems like a good deal - but what were Silvertones like? I can't see from the pics - was the whole arm weighting down on the record, or was there some sort of Victrola-like crook?
Might be a good starter machine - except for the grill cloth...

Nat, I have a few Silver tone phonographs. They do actually have a vertical crook in the arm so that only half of the arm weight is on the record. The sound with a rebuilt reproducer is fairly good and loud. You canpossibly find a replacement grill from some one in this forum. It looks like one of their better/larger models. For $10 I'd grab it! Ed

For $10 I'd definitely get it. If you are just starting out it is nice to have machines you didn't pay a lot of money for to get used to cleaning, oiling, etc. It is a nice looking machine too.
