motors refreshed (rehabbed)

I recently found out I am quite capable of doing the Victor motors. That being said I would like to earn some extra cash for a short vacation. 500-600 bucks. So if anyone is out there who might like their motor refreshed and re-lubed..

anyone interested?

The total goal would be 500-600 dollars. Sorry for the confusion. As far as "broken" springs go, it's going to vary case to case scenario. In this venture already found two "ripped" springs. If I had not inspected them or really looked close they could have slipped by. I don't know how long they would have lasted.

I think that Squire Will may have been misunderstood. I don't believe that he was saying he would charge $500/$600 to service a Victor motor. I think that was his goal to earn this amount of money over time. That being said perhaps he could give us some idea of what his rates might be. I am also wondering if he is able to repair broken springs??

Was this your first?

These late Victrola motors are a perfect starting point for repair.

I remember how proud and excited I was when I had finished my first successful rebuild
back in 1972 or 1973.

For quite a few years I was working on fifteen or twenty machines a month, more like forty just before the tourist season (stock for antique shops).

My advice to you is to first make certain that you have parts stock in depth before you begin this work.

Pick up a couple dozen junk machines of various kinds at your local farm auctions and part them out.

Remember that there are a number of dedicated restorers with years and years of experience and sterling reputations, such as George Vollema, and that you have a pretty high standard to meet.

That said, if you do all of your work as carefully as the photos of your Credenza motor suggest you are off to a fine start indeed.

I'm extremely picky in everything I do. everything. That being said I just want to earn a little extra cash. Not looking to make a business out of it.

So you have a two spring motor for a Victor ? and two extra spring barrels with springs in them? Tell me the model of the player , so we are on the same page.

So we established you have extra springs and barrels. And the motor itself is a two spring? Get back to me when you get feeling a little better.

Just saying thats a good rate to go by even if you figure all the work yhat has to go into rebuilding a mainspring for a Victrola espically for a 2 barrell even a 4 barrell is extra tricky.
. MY Personal Opnion

THis is My Humble Opnion and just Thankful for people that can do this.
