I really enjoy these hot numbers again and again on my Vic III.
Luckily the files are on the web, so I do not have to learn how to
shoot and post large sound files. Besides, I had more fun
creating the still graphic for this post.
Original Dixieland Jazz Band "Bluin' The Blues" 1918

What's a hot tune that you can't get enough of?

I am partial to the Original Memphis Five. Lots of their music can be heard on YouTube.
"Fireworks" by the Original Memphis Five:

Ooh, it changes all the time. Right now this has knocked my socks off (again) - Fred Hall & his Sugar Babies: Come On, Baby (on a UK issue Parlophone).

I'll be playing it at the Walthamstow Wind-Up this Wednesday evening - 78 DJing in London with the Shellac Collective!

VintageTechnologies all of my Original Memphis Five are earlier than
your 1929 recording. I really like it! They made many good records.
Orchorsol that sounds like great fun, I wish I could join you at the Pub.
I googled the collective and they are a wild bunch.
A lively version of "Come On, Baby".
James.

It's great to see another fan of Harry Reser's bands. I highly recommend picking up this from ebay, just in time for Halloween:

I just picked up my new favorite...
Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five "Sunset Cafe Stomp" 1926
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQaQLwb0I9E
Sunset stomp got folks jumpin’
Sunset stomp got folks
Jumpin' up and down, all around
They yell, band men play some more
Charleston, Charleston
I’ll say it's hot
But your black bottom, it’s got ‘em
But, oh, that sunset stomp
Lord, it’s going
And the people strain
Created in the crazy house
It sets good folks insane
Gentlemen, ladies too
Push 'em round n round
They loose their head
They’ll drop dead
Doin’ that sunset stomp
I said, doin' sunset stomp

One of my favorite hot-tune recordings is Jelly Roll Morton's Red Hot Peppers, "Black Bottom Stomp." A rousing number if there ever was one. You'll find a link to the recording on this page:
http://www.redhotjazz.com/redhot.html
You'll need Real Audio to play this .ra file. There may be other places on the web where you can hear this one, but I haven't looked into it as I own the CD reissue.

Another of my all-time favourites is Miff Mole & his Little Molers: Feelin' No Pain

The explosive way they all come back in after the piano solo near the end amazes me every time.

Those are two more wonderfully hot selections!
