I have recently seen many reproduction open filament, Edison type light bulbs at reasonable prices.

I would like to purchase a time period correct working display base as a decorative item. I found a resource called Etsy. Some of the items look very interesting, but nothing is exactly what I'm looking for and at a reasonable price.

Although Edison invented the first functional electric light bulb in 1879, more than 20 years would pass before his revolutionary device was practical enough to be embraced by the mass consuming public. In fact, early electrical systems were exorbitantly expensive to install and to maintain, as well as subject to frustrating service interruptions and frightening power surges. As a consequence, the market for electric light during the 1880s was extremely small, and the number of “bulb receptacles” or sockets produced was miniscule. During this formative period, Edison's DC (direct current) system dominated the market and his "Bergmann" socket was the prototypical design. Edison / Bergmann sockets pop on EBay from time to time which is where I found my two I use for displaying one good and one dud Edison bulb. (not Edison-Mazda bulbs either)
