So here is the newest addition to my collection, a Regina Hexaphone. I have a couple questions if someone could help. Look at the top left corner of the glass and there is a little metal piece there. Is this used to hold operating instructions? Anyone have any idea what this would of said or look like so I can make one or buy one that is correct. Can anyone help me determine the model number of this machine? It plays 2min cylinders and accepts nickles. Serial number 1010587
Thanks Guys!

Nice machine!, wouldn't that be used to show the user the cylinders available in the machine?, just a guess

Good guess, but the selection of the 6 cylinders is listed to the right of the Regina Hexaphone top piece.

HEY BRENT,
I DON'T HAVE THAT CLIP ON MY MACHINE BUT ON THE LOWER RIGHT MIND HAS A ORIGINAL PAPER DIRECTIONS ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE GLASS...PROBABLY ABOUT 3" BY 9"....IF YOU WANT A COPY OF THAT JUST EMAIL ME AT
[email protected] AND I WILL EMAIL YOU A COUPLE OF PICTURES FOR YOU.
KIND REGARDS,
MARK

That's a nice early Model 101. Regina serial numbers have the model number as the first 3 digits, then the actual consecutive number, so yours is number 587 -- very early indeed. I have the oldest one known, number 57 (1010057).
Mine is the first style cabinet with domed glass and no signboard. I have the same clip, it was used to hold the song list. I don't believe that your sign is correct, I think that's probably a repro made for a Model 104. You should have a sign like the one George posted, which does not have space for titles.
The Musical Box Society International has Regina's original production logs. Go to this page:
http://mbsi.org/mart.php and scroll down toward the bottom to find the "Regina Certificate." For a mere $5 you can order one, send your serial number, and they will send you a printed certificate that tells the actual date it shipped from the factory, and the name of the original buyer. An incredible bargain to find your machine's provenance.
