I thought I would post this November 1970 cover of Canadian Homes magazine. What a clean machine. Since I'm not a Columbia collector......can anyone see issues with the machine??. To me, it looks very clean and 100% original.

Looks fine to me- if I'm not mistaken the back bracket was applied to a case designed for a front mount bracket, so the licensing decal appears on the front- the side opposite the crank would have the "Disc Graphophone" decal.

Is that an H&S 'Star' record on the turntable?

I wouldn't have it because the decal is a little off center. The decal appears a little off center but I'm just kidding. It looks like a very nice original machine. In about 1975 DeeDee and I stopped at an antique shop and bought two incomplete machines. One was a Vic IV missing the turntable, crank, and horn. The other was a Columbia BI very much like the one in your photo. It was missing the nickel horn and when I picked up the cabinet, I could hear the parts of the motor as they shifted from one side of the cabinet to the other side. The total price for both machines was $100 and the price was quickly paid. I upgraded the Vic IV many years ago but the completed BI is as nice as any machine in my collection. Jerry Blais

Hope you enjoy the article. By the way....I like how on the very bottom of page one....they call the Columbia Graphophone "Columbia gramophone" with an "a"....

The Noresco ad may look a bit strange to readers in the USA. I first ran into the name when I bought a used Dual turntable that included a Noresco wood base. Apparently they were a Canadian integrator of audio components sold under their brand. They evidently were the importers and distributors of Dual products in Canada. The name was not known in the US as Dual products were distributed here by another importer.
