Victor Records trademark question
Posted: Tue Nov 13, 2012 7:07 pm
I recently bought about 40 records off Craigslist, and all of them are great, except for one, so I figure that's good for buying something sight unseen.
Two of the records have something I've never run across before. One is a Victor red seal with the "Grand Prize" type label, and the other is a black label Victor with the "Patents" type label. Both are single sided, and on the blank side, embossed into the wax and centered around the hole, about 4 inches in diameter, is the figure of a cherub sitting on a record while enscribing a groove on it's surface with a quill pen. It says "trade mark" on the edges. Can anyone fill me in about this?
I'd post photos, but I don't have the capability.
I've seen this trademark before, don't recall where, but never on the back of a Victor record.
Thanks in advance.
