Hi can anyone tell me if the 4 minute stylis on a model K is safe to use on a 4 minute black wax cylinder. Or is only ment for 4 minute Amberols? Thanks

A four minute black wax cylinder is a four minute Amberol - they're the same thing. And they are exactly what the four minute stylus of a Model K (or H) was meant to play. Four minute Blue Amberols can also be played with an H or the four minute stylus on a K.

Hi Gordon , just make sure the moving parts of your reproducer do exactly that --- MOVE -- it is important to check that the two stylus bars , also the pivot of the counter-weight are free to move so they feel almost "loose". Its as well to introduce a drop or two of fine oil such as gun oil to the pivots -- don't use normal lubricating oil as it is far too thick and will attract dust and just clog things up. It is important that the stylus bars in particular can move freely , so as not to unintentionally wear the fine grooves of the 4 minute record. Cheers [/i]

Thanks for the advice all very greatfully excepted. It is all moving freely but as I don't know when it was last oiled I will put a very small amount on it just to make sure. Thanks again Gordon.
