I am in need of some asstance on removeing some stuck wood screws on the bottom of my Edison B home long box. I tried the proper screwdriver I also tried taping with a smaller hammer on top screw driver seems thay maybe rusted in place what to use>?? I am at my wits end I do not want to damageany part of the case. does any one have any suggestions.>??

Would a soak in WD40 help loosen both the wood and the rust?

I had a similar issue with some screws on an Edison C150. I finally just drilled them out.

Determine the diameter of a piece of #6 copper wire (stripped of insulation). Drill a hole into the screw dead center in the slot about a half-inch deep with a bit of the same or incrementally larger diameter and insert the wire fully into the hole leaving about an inch exposed. Heat the wire with a propane torch until the screw heats up from the heat transfer. When you smell the wood begin to char, remove the heat. Remove the copper wire and unscrew the screw. It can be reinstalled later.

It just happened so quickely,
after trying gently with screw driver well they broke off now. how the heck do I deal with this mess LOL
Besides I think I am just going to linseedoil and turpentine the case the wood is so so sry from being in a barn fo so long is this ok to do to the wood>?

Your best bet now is to drill into the broken screws and use a screw extractor (you can find those at most hardware stores - look for a size close to the broken screws).

Yes Bill I will have to do this. I plan on going to the nearest tool house to get my drillbit. Carbide steel the toughest in drillbits or I may get the kit with Diamond tip drills. I Think My local Harbor freight has them can not do anything till next month tightfunds bills to pay ill let you guys know how i make out
