Swapping Victor Induction type I and III governor assemblies

Hello!
Does anyone know from experience whether the governor and bearing assemblies in the Victor Induction motors, type I and type III, are identical?
I have 10-50 changer with a type III motor with a governor that's getting increasingly noisy. I've done the usual lubrication, and adjusted the bearing positions as much as possible to minimize noise, but the result is that there is way too much side-to-side play of the governor shaft. I suspect that the governor is not original to this particular motor.
I have a nice type I motor governor that I could use, but would like some opinions before I start tearing into my 10-50. Thanks!
Bob
