Still in service in 1937.

Looks like a mighty poor home. Rolled up bedding, liquor bottle and hammer on the floor, broken mirror....

Now THAT is cool!!! All sorts of social history there. The fella apparently couldn't afford any upgrades in his life after 1915, let alone 1929.

OR maybe that's a contemporary photo (mislabeled) of a fellow collector's humble habitation. He can't afford a computer and therefore isn't on the TMF (Talking Machine Forum, dontcha know). :ugeek: Give us a few more years of the present economy and even most of us here will have sold all we have and been reduced to our Amberola 30s.

Here is the pic.

Even in the most dire circumstances, people want music in their lives.

Music hath charms?? I see an additional sadness than just a messy grown-up with a drinking habit... Notice the shoes on the floor are those of a child (shoes on dresser top are adult) and then there is the coloring book page of the little Dutch girl on the wall-- an obvious gift for mommy or daddy, who cherished it enough to proudly display it on the wall of an otherwise disheveled existence.

outune, a picture is worth a thousand words, as they say. You're quite observant--yes, sad, pathetic, and sweet all rolled up in one image.
