A 1907 Xmas gift

I purchased this glove box at Union a few years ago. On the underside it says "Bertha from Harold, Xmas 1907". On the top left it says "finished Jan. 24, 1908. Also burned into the underside are names of early 20th century opera stars Pol Plancon, Enrico Caruso, Nillie Melba, Emma Eames, and Antonio Scotti. There appears to be a face drawn in the top middle with lines crossed through the face. When you open Bertha's glove box, you can still smell her perfume. I'm sure they both loved opera and suspect their most memorable dates were enjoyed hand in hand at the Met. At least that is what the romantic in me imagines. Now, whenever I see one of these boxes, I check the underside. Jerry B.
