Sheared pin on a double cut governor

This is a governor from the early style 1911-13 VV IV which used the double cut gearing. It has a sheared off lower pin. I have the broken piece but im afraid this is now a parts governor.
Has anyone ever somehow, someway repaired this without changing out the stem or happen to have a parts governor with intact stem?

I don't know if you can repair it well but I have a couple spare governor shafts somewhere, I will see if any might work with your governor!

These can be fixed by a machinist. They drill out the shaft and insert the new pin. Its not a do it yourself at home type of job though, as everything has to be spot on to keep the governor balanced.

a12548, In my opinion the most simple and most cost effective way to deal with this is to replace the whole thing or at least, replace the shaft. Google for "Great Lakes Antique Phonograph Repair" or search this forum for GLAP or Vollema and you will find a reasonable source for a replacement.
I don't know where you're located, but if you're in the USA then a replacement should be easy to obtain.

I agree the best would be to replace the main shaft.
I had a zonophone governor repaired by a machinist (in Bob Nix's shop)as replacements for the zonophone are expensive and hard to come by. Due to the hardened steel a professional is needed to effect a repair.
good luck, Bruce

A new shaft is $85, I will also check a local machinist. Thanks!

WOW, I didn't think a replacement shaft would be quite that much.
I've got one here too but both ends are broken. I was planning on getting one from USA eventually, but at that price plus postage, I think I'll be looking for a machinist as well
