Well, maybe not 35 gazillion tons, but there are quite a few, maybe 300 pounds? Lots of 10" and 12", all with their original sleeves. From the former Strand Temple Of Music in Albany. I pulled several out randomly, and they all look unplayed. I just want them out of the house. KEEP READING, as there are special bonus offers at the end of this message! BTW- I will add pictures to this post later on.
First, a few questions and answers:
Q: Did you go through the records? What's in there?
A: I flipped through them all. Majority are RED, some BLUE, very few BLACK. Olive Kline, Bori, Gluck, McCormack, and a few aesthetic caterwaulers. Like violin solos? LOOK NO FURTHER. All acoustic era, but I did see a few red seal Orthophonics in there (maybe Tibbet discs?). I pulled out all of the Black Patti, Edison Needle Types, and the set of 10 hand signed Emile Berliner home recording discs he made with his Aunt Fannie in 1899. Sorry guys, those are keepers!
---------------------------
Q: FREE? Really?
A: Yes, free. I don't have the patience or inclination to sort through them and attempt to sell them. I collect Edison discs primarily, and as I tell most people, my knowledge of music ends around 1931. There is little exception, as I am also the national curator for the entire Wayne Newton LP collection. It isn't as much a collection as it is a "body of work."
---------------------------
Q: Really, are these free? I have paid anywhere from .50 cents to $18 per disc in the past. This seems like a great deal? Isn't it?
A: Yes, and you would be doing a good deed. Because....if they aren't gone soon, they will be: (orchestra hit) IN THE LAND FILL!!!!!!!! MUAH HA HA HA HA HA HAAHH!
---------------------------
Q: Will you pack and ship them?
A: Nope. I can help load them into your truck/wagon. I can't bring these to the Wayne phonograph show because it is simply too much of a burden on me and my back. No matter how much gristle and pulled pork sandwiches you offer them, my 7 and 8 year olds refuse to load 65 pound cases of records. What happened to the work ethic we all had when WE were kids. Yeah! I know!

So, you have made it this far in this posting. You obviously love music, and appreciate a good acoustic disc. So, I will incentivize this further. Not only will our lucky contestant get ALL of the Victor Red Seals, but they will also have the option of picking up.......also free of charge.......about 200 pounds of Edison Diamond Disc records. The majority of these are the early etched labels, but there are probably 20+ paper labels in there too. Majority in real nice shape! These are duplicates of records I already have.
Much like life itself, opportunities come with time invested. Now, if....and ONLY if you take the Red Seals and Diamond Discs, you will have the option to also procure EVERY SINGLE Bing Crosby record that was ever produced.....about 9.5 tons of them. There are also discs of Bing recording with the Andrews Sisters (WOW...rare indeed!)
Like Xavier Cugat? Carmen Cavallaro? Dick Haymes? Guy Lombardo? Johnny WhatsHisName?
Maybe there is a way to apply atomic fusion to these. Use them as a power source. I mean really, the 1940's were a good era musically, but none of it appeals to me. I am more of a steel-needle-and-recording-horn kinda fellow.
What do you get from this? About 1400 pounds of records, and MAYBE.......MAYBE a hearty handshake. Don't even expect a cup of coffee from me, as I am a miserly hermit curmudgeon.
Operators are standing by. Its time to MAKE THE CALL! Leave me a message with a phone number. I might be able to store these for a month, but no more.
I am located about 1hr-45m South of Montreal, in the Adirondack Park region of NY state. Roughly 30 minutes off I-87.
