The reproducer I have here is broken.
I have searched the web almost all night but can't find any detailed pictures of such a unit that will enable me to determine what is wrong with mine.

I have some questions about this unit

1) How does the reproducer attach to the weight at the bottom? Mine is broken off there. Some

2) How shoudl the stylus look like?

3) How does the stylus arm attach to the weight? Mine has a piece of wire and is very sloppy

4) How does the stylus arm attach to the diaphragm? I have a copper diapraghm and a little piece of wire sticks out. This wire is attached but loose at the diaphragm. It is also too long for the arm - I think.

Maybe someone here can help me with these issues and a few close up pictures of these parts would be really helpful.

Ok, here are some pics so you can see why I need pictures and details on the reproducer.
Someone (looks like ablacksmith!) has 'repaired' this in the past and I need enough information to do it properly.

Please post details on how the weightattaches to the reproducer at the bottom and at the top.

How does the stylus lever / arm attach to the weight?

Also, is this stylus any good?

With the right info, I can repair this - no problem.

You need a new hinge block and screw where the weght attaches. The hinge block has a threaded post that screws into the top. It has a screw that holds on the weight. You also need a stylus mounting screw that attaches the stylus bar to the weight. Just hope all the threaded screw holes are not stripped. Stylus looks good. I would clean the gunk off of it underneath. I would also get a new set of gaskets while you are at it. All parts can be bought from Ron Sitko. 518-371-8549

The other side with the loop limits the movement. Looks like you might need a new limit pin, It screws in also. The small piece of wire connects from the diaphragm to the hole in the stylus bar. That should be about 5/16 of an inch in length measured from the outside from bend to bend.

that is good information. So this is called a hingle block and it has a threaded stud.

Does anyone know what diameter / thread it should be? I should be able to make a new one.

Is the stylus screw, a shoulder screw with a smooth shaft and then a little bit of thread on the end?
Thread size?

I actually really enjoy reparigin parts and machining bits so this will be another nice little project.

Are the required gaskets just the usual hollow tubing?

Flat rubber (or whatever we call "rubber", nowadays) for the gaskets. That sapphire doesn't look at all correct - shouldn't it have a "doorknob" shape? You might be better off looking for another, intact Model C .

I agree a good rebuilt original model C reproducer would be better it seems to be pretty buggered up.

So now one person wrote the styulus looks good and another wrote the stylus is bad?

This stylus clearly never looked like a doorknob but rather like a crystal ball. Perhaps they made different types of stylus'?

I would really like to see pictures of what this whole thing should actually look like.

My whole enjoyment from this old machine is so I can have fun reparing it.

When this fails, I can throw money at it and get another reproducer.

You want to tinker with it. I would just clean it up and rebuild it with the parts I suggested and try it. The parts are cheap enough. Not worth making them with 3 different tiny threads. If you want the thread sizes give Ron a call. He would know.

I was curious about the stylus myself.
The Model C 2 minute reproducer should have a stylus like the one pictured below. It's kind of like a door knob, but the one you have Bernt, is completely different.
I've never owned a Model B (sapphire) reproducer before, but apparently they have have a ball stylus like yours.
I think it's either an earlier stylus from a Model B, or it may be a reproducing stylus from a Dictaphone or Ediphone.
